General Information

Program schedule may be interrupted by weather during winter and early spring. Some  programs are not scheduled if they conflict with retreats or sesshin.  Please check our calendar or contact us to confirm.

RSVP is requested and helpful. Email or phone welcome.

Please call 828-645-2085 and leave a message that you plan to attend at least 24 hours in advance.

Registration is required for some programs with fees no later than 7 days in advance.  RSVP, if you can,  no later than 3 days prior.

Weekly Opportunities

Thursday Morning Meditation    6 am –11 am – Ongoing.
Two periods of meditation and chanting,  breakfast, communal work. You are welcome to come for all or part of the morning.  Newcomers should let us know one day in advance.   Please RSVP by phone or email. Dana.

Tuesdays :  3:30 – 5:30 pm through Practice Periods

Fall Practice Period, 2011
Start: September 27
End: December 13
No class will be held during overlapping sesshins or retreats.
Please consult the calendar of events.
Resumes February 14, 2012
 
Schedule  includes  30 minutes of zazen, one  hour of reading and discussion followed by a short break, then 20 minutes of zazen.

You welcome to  come only for zazen or join the series at any time. 
The program is active  through Spring -Practice period, inactive in July and August. Resumes during Fall Practice Period.

Sangha  = community.  Sangha Sundays are an opportunity to build community, share the dharma, and practice together at Great Tree Zen Temple. Informal tea.  Everyone is welcome!

  • What:  Zazen, Recitation of  the Precepts, Dharma Talk with discussion
  • Time: 10 – 11:30 AM  (Informal Tea 11:30 – Noon)
This monthly foundation practice is a great way to begin or “begin again” to deepen your practice on a regular basis. Please RSVP by phone or email.

Scheduled during sesshins, but private meetings may be scheduled to meet with her to discuss  or plan your practice or study schedule
