Body Awareness & Zen

Body Awareness for Zen Practice

February 18, 2012   9am-4pm  with Rev. Teijo Munnich and Meredith McIntosh

(Ms. McIntosh is a certified Alexander Technique
teacher and massage therapist.

This one-day class will focus on the importance of balance and ease of both mind and body as it relates to the mediation practice in the Soto Zen Buddhist tradition – the simple practice of sitting quietly.

Instruction will be drawn from the  teachings  of body awareness and ease sourced from both Zen Master Dogen and the movement educator, F.M. Alexander. It will include gentle, hands-on guidance, exercise, stretching and discussion. Experienced and beginning practitioners are welcome. Noon meal will be included. Wear comfortable clothing,  and layers.  Note we do not wear shoes indoors. Some floors are cold and we suggest thick socks or slippers.

In addition, Meredith is offering private Alexander Technique sessions on Saturday, following the workshop, for a suggested Dana of $35. per session.
