Support for Zen Study & Practice
The Great Tree Practice Support Fund is intended for the ongoing support of education, training and continuing practice at Great Tree. These funds will be set aside and drawn on as need arises, to be administered by resident Abbess. We have long recognized the value of providing scholarships or grant assistance to encourage and deepen practice for our sangha members. The time is right to establish this fund to help residents, lay students and priests continue the spiritual and practical knowledge needed to keep Great Tree viable and strong.
Update: We have only partially received a portion of our goal for funding Chimyo’s trip to Japan. We hope to reach the full the amount (3,000.) by May 15th to cover the expense for her airfare, in-country travel (train), and lodging along with monastic fees and expenses. All gifts of any size are welcome. Gassho.
One of the first projects to be funded by this Practice Support Fund will be the completion of Chimyo’s priest certification in Japan this summer. Arrangements have been made at the Soto Zen head monasteries, Eiheiji and Sojiji, for her to complete the zuise ceremony. Chimyo, in her many roles, is such an important part of Great Tree. We hope you will help to see her through this next stage. A deep gasshō, and much appreciation for saying “Yes!” to this special fund which will not only help Chimyo but will bolster the continuing growth of Great Tree Temple and our Sangha.
