Writing Practice

Season of Words: A Series of Monthly Gatherings for Poets and Writers

Led by Chimyo Atkison: TBA after January 2013

Time: 2 pm to 4 pm

Beginning on April 15, Great Tree will offer the first in a series of monthly gatherings for writers seeking to make space in their lives to practice their craft amidst the beauty of the changing seasons here at Great Tree.

This is not a class or a critique session, but a chance to come write and share the writing experience.

The sessions are based on the traditional ginko, or haiku walk (gin, singing, praising; ko, walking). However, writers will not be limited to any particular form—poetry, fiction, journaling—whatever form you prefer.

Great Tree has shady porches, trails and outdoor space that may entice your muse. Bring your favorite writing tools and mindful spirit of practice to your writing.

The sessions will begin with 30 minutes of zazen as part of the creative process.

Tea and snacks available.
If you are interested in participating, please RSVP by email or phone.

We will add you to a reminder list for fall schedule. Please let us know how to reach you.
You may join us at any time.
